How We Use Information
We use information to run Petaly, create personalized cycle and nutrition guidance, save your logs, provide reminders, authenticate accounts, manage subscriptions, process food scans, support sharing features, prevent abuse, improve reliability, fix bugs, measure app performance, and keep the service secure.
Legal Basis For Processing
We process personal information when we have a lawful basis to do so. This may include your consent, the need to provide the service you requested, compliance with legal obligations, protection of vital interests, security and abuse prevention, and other legitimate interests that are balanced with your rights.
Health And Wellness Data
Petaly may process sensitive or specific personal information, including cycle, symptom, fertility, intimacy, nutrition, body, and health-related information. We handle this information with extra care and use it to provide the wellness features you choose to use. Petaly is for general wellness and education only. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, contraception, or emergency care.
Bloom And Automated Features
Bloom is Petaly's automated wellness companion for chat, food photo analysis, cycle insights, and related suggestions. Some Bloom features use third-party AI services to analyze food photos, text prompts, and app context so we can provide meal estimates, chat replies, and wellness guidance. Petaly currently sends the minimum information needed for the requested Bloom feature through Vercel AI Gateway to Google Gemini. For food photo analysis, this may include the meal photo, optional description, date, cycle phase, nutrition targets, and recent meal totals. For Bloom chat, this may include your message, conversation history, current cycle phase, recent logs, personal patterns, and today's meal totals.
We ask for in-app permission before sending personal data to third-party AI services for Bloom chat or food photo analysis. These providers process information for Petaly's requested feature under provider terms and data protection commitments that require confidentiality, security, and use restrictions intended to provide protection equal to this policy. Bloom results may be incomplete or inaccurate, so you should not rely on them for medical, pregnancy, nutrition, or safety decisions.
Community Features And Public Information
Petaly includes social features such as the Petals feed, private Petal groups, replies, photo posts, support messages, and profile information. Some of this information is visible to other users.
- Public posts in the Petals feed, profile information, and reactions can be seen by any signed-in user of Petaly.
- Posts in private Petal groups can be seen by members of that group, who may save, screenshot, or repost what they see outside of our control.
- Support messages you send to followers, and phase information you choose to share by QR code or link, are visible to the recipients you choose for as long as the link or relationship remains active.
- Cycle, symptom, mood, energy, body, nutrition, and other wellness data is private to your account by default. It is never published to the community unless you choose to share it through a community feature.
Do not post information in the community that you would not want other people to see, save, or share. You can edit or delete content you posted, unfollow or block other users, leave private groups, and revoke phase sharing links from Settings.
Reports, Moderation, And Safety
To keep the community safe, we collect and process information about reports, blocks, moderation actions, and safety signals. This may include the content that was reported, who reported it, automated moderation flags, decisions we took, warnings or suspensions applied, and identifiers used to enforce bans. We use this information to investigate reports, enforce the Terms of Service and Community Standards, prevent and respond to abuse, protect users, and comply with the law.
If your account is suspended or banned, we may keep limited records about the ban, the reasons for it, and identifiers needed to prevent the creation of new accounts that evade the ban. These records may be kept after account deletion for safety, legal, and abuse prevention purposes.
Tracking, Analytics, And Diagnostics
We use tracking, analytics, and diagnostic services to understand how the app is used, measure feature performance, detect crashes, prevent abuse, and improve Petaly. These services may process app activity, device information, diagnostics, and identifiers. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use sensitive wellness data for third-party advertising.
We may use masked session replay to understand whether screens such as onboarding are clear and usable. Session replay is configured to hide sensitive text, text inputs, images, food photos, notes, chat content, invite codes, sharing tokens, and payment screens where possible.
Service Providers
We share information with service providers that help us operate Petaly, including hosting, database storage, authentication, subscriptions, app store purchases, push notifications, object storage, third-party model gateways, analytics, tracking, diagnostics, security, and customer support. They may process information only for the services they provide to Petaly.
Legal Reasons For Sharing
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, to prevent fraud or abuse, to enforce our terms, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Your Rights And Controls
You can edit or remove many entries in the app, disable notifications, unlink sharing relationships, stop using optional features, or delete your account from Settings. You can also request deletion at petalyapp.com/delete-account.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, update, complete, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. You may also be able to withdraw consent, object to certain processing, ask us to limit or stop processing, and request data portability where technically feasible and legally required.
Account Deletion
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, cycle history, daily logs, food entries, chats, sharing links, invite data, and app sessions from Petaly systems, subject to limited retention described below. Public community content you posted may remain visible in copies, quotes, replies, or backups for a limited period before routine deletion. Store-managed subscriptions must be cancelled separately in your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
Retention
We keep data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Backups, audit logs, moderation records, and ban records may persist for a limited period before routine deletion. Where an account has been suspended or banned for safety reasons, we may retain the minimum information needed to enforce that decision.
Age And Children
Petaly is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. To keep sign-up quick and friction-free, we do not verify your age when you create an account. We rely on your representation that you are at least 18 years old. Confirming your age is your responsibility.
If we later collect your birth year as part of nutrition setup, it is used to personalize calorie targets and similar wellness guidance. It is not used as an age check or as a way to identify minors.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we will close the account and delete the related information, subject to limited retention for safety, abuse prevention, and legal reasons. Parents or guardians who believe their child has created an account can contact help@petalyapp.com.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee complete security, so you should use a secure device and protect your sign-in methods.
Data Breach Notification
If a personal data breach affects your information, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, reduce harm, and notify affected users and relevant authorities when required by law. Where Indonesian law applies, this may include written notice within 3 x 24 hours after we become aware of the breach, as required by applicable rules.
International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border processing.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as updating the app or this page.
